GENERAL FAQ’S

What Is The Intern Memo?

The Intern Memo is a free email newsletter with a mix of event listings, intern stories and career advice specifically for interns--basically all you need to land the perfect internship and then to get you through it. For more info click here.

So Why Isn’t This SPAM?

Because you asked for it! You’ll never get Intern Memo if you don’t sign up for it. If you don't want to get our emails anymore, you can unsubscribe at any time.

How Do I Sign Up?

We’ve been waiting for you. You can sign up here.

You’re Not Going To Believe What My Boss Did. Can I Share My Story With Intern Memo?

We love good ideas and hearing about them from our readers. You can use our contact us page to send us your ideas. We will get in touch with you to find out more.

What Happens If I Miss An Email?

After we publish each email, we post a copy of it in our archive. Don’t worry, our valuable advice lasts forever.

What Kind Of Business Gives Away Its Product For Free?

Funny you should ask, but just like ABC lets you watch Ugly Betty for free (they probably should be paying you to watch), we make our money by selling advertising. The banners surrounding each email are paid for, as are occasional "text links" and "Dedicated" emails. For more info check out our editorial policy.

So You’re Paid for Everything You Write About?

No. The Intern Memo is totally editorially independent. When it’s pay day for the Intern Memo, you’ll know it. We won’t recommend something if we don’t like it. You may have sold your soul to land your internship, but we’ve already learned our lesson.

Will You Share My E-mail Address or Personal Information With Others?

Absolutely not. We guard every piece of information you give us with everything we have. EVERYTHING, including your e-mail address, is kept strictly confidential. For more on our privacy policy, click here.

EMAIL HELP:

I Signed Up, I’m Refreshing My Inbox Every 10 Minutes, But I Haven’t Gotten My Email Yet. What’s the deal?

Occasionally, the e-mails we send will get blocked or marked as Junk Mail by your e-mail program. To ensure the delivery of your Intern Memo, follow the instructions below for adding Intern Memo to your safe sender or whitelist.

I Used To Get The Intern Memo And I Don’t Anymore. What Gives?

In order to stay within the Anti-SPAM law, the company that sends our email out will occasionally automatically unsubscribe you for various reasons (your server is down, your mailbox is full et cetera). You can subscribe again or follow the instructions below for ensuring delivery.

Text vs. HTML

Since you can’t stop the runaway train that is technology, most email programs can handle HTML. Specifically, you'll be able to read HTML emails if you use Gmail, Hotmail, MSN, Yahoo! Mail, Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora Pro, Netscape Navigator, Netscape Communicator, Mozilla or AOL 6.0 and up. Eudora Light and earlier versions of Eudora Pro don't support HTML e-mail; neither does AOL 5.0 or earlier. If you’re a hardcore text guru, however, you can subscribe using our text option.

Other Internet Service Providers

If you are subscribed to Intern Memo, but are not receiving the e-mails, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or company is blocking them, perhaps because they think Intern Memo is spam.

But you’re a super intern, you can’t be stopped. Instead you can:

  • Get in touch with technical support at your ISP or company and explain the problem. If they are blocking e-mail from Intern Memo, ask them to stop. One way they can do this is to place internmemo.com on an e-mail "safe list"
  • If all else fails, try signing up under another internet account, or consider changing ISPs to a provider that does not block your e-mail.
